How to Trim a Beard
No matter which beard or mustache styles you are carrying, a little trimming allows for maximum impact. Gillette® has all the tips, tricks and tools you need to make your beard a showstopper.
Trim after you shower and when your beard is dry – your hair will be hydrated and easier to cut, and will give you a better idea of how it will look once it’s tamed.
Brush out your beard. This can detangle knots and set your beard up for optimal grooming.
Use the All Purpose Gillette Styler: Trimmer, Shaver & Edger to get an even trim – its three guide combs will give you consistency. You can also make use of the trimmer present behind Gillette SkinGuard Razor. For the best trimming, pull your skin taught and trim in a sweeping motion away from your face.
Remember, there’s no undo button for bad trimming, so start with a longer guide comb to control length. For the best styling, trim your beard shorter on your neck and cheeks. Keep hair longer on your chin to create a fade. Use these beard shapes for inspiration.
After trimming, brush your moustache hair downward and remove the guide comb to buzz the hair that extends over your lip.
If necessary, follow up with scissors to attack any stragglers head-on. We recommend these.
Use beard oil to keep your beard soft and healthy. These lightweight oils help keep moisture in your beard hair and skin to soften and maintain unruly beards and moustaches. This oil is our favorite.
