What is Exfoliation
When it comes to shaving, smoothness starts at the molecular level. That's where exfoliation comes into play. Exfoliation refers to the removal of dead skin cells to leave behind smoother skin cells. One way to exfoliate is to use a face scrub to buff away oil, dirt, and old cells that might be matting down facial hair and blocking your razor's path. But the act of shaving itself also exfoliates dead skin cells. In fact, shaving is also known as a natural exfoliator for your skin.
Exfoliation, as mentioned, is an important part of your grooming routine that will help in achieving a smooth shave. Here are a few steps you can follow to exfoliate your skin.
Steps for Exfoliation
You might be wondering what is exfoliation? Being men, we have never focused on rituals that help take care of our skin. Therefore, we have put forth a brief step-by-step tutorial in case you are wondering how to exfoliate your skin.
Skin exfoliation might be difficult for some, but a how-to guide will not only help you take care of your skin, but also improve your shaving experience. Follow the steps below to understand how to use a face scrub.
1. Preparing your skin
The first step stays common for both shaving and exfoliating and that is preparing your skin. Exfoliating your skin after thorough cleansing and rinsing will yield the best results. You can go for your daily face cleanser, which can effortlessly get the work done. It will remove dirt, grime, and excess oil from your skin for an even smoother exfoliation process.
2. Gentle application
You have to apply the skin exfoliator gently on your face. Before applying, you have to take a small amount of exfoliator on your hands. Rub your hands together so that the exfoliator is equally spread across both hands. This ensures even application of the exfoliator on your skin. Gently rub the exfoliator on your face and massage for 10 seconds.
3. Rinse it well
Once you are done applying the exfoliator, rinse your face thoroughly. We recommend you to use lukewarm water to rinse your face and get rid of the excess product. Keep a check on the water temperature because if it is too hot, it may irritate your skin. Hence, we suggest that you heat the water to a temperature you are comfortable with.
4. Dry your skin
Do not rush in to dry your skin out. You have to check if the product is thoroughly rinsed and then go for the drying process. When you start with it, you have to pat it dry gently with a clean, soft towel. Do not rub your face with the towel, especially if you have acne or other skin conditions.
5. Moisturize
Moisturizing your skin is a process you cannot overlook. Exfoliation should always be followed by moisturization. This will keep your skin well-hydrated.
Now that you know how to exfoliate skin with a face wash, shave your face with Gillette SkinGuard Razor and rinse with cool water to close pores and soothe the skin. Then, pat your face dry and apply a lightweight aftershave moisturizer, such as Gillette® Sensitive Skin After Shave Lotion. Following this exfoliation process will prepare your skin for a good shave and also help in keeping the skin healthy.
